Overview

Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant, nestled along 460 Coastal Highway in Panacea, Florida, brings a genuine taste of Mexico to this coastal town. This cozy eatery welcomes locals and travelers alike with a simple, unpretentious space that feels warm and inviting. The interior and exterior may be modest, but the heart of Las Palmas lies in the food and the people behind it.

At the center of the menu are classic Mexican staples like steak and chicken fajitas, street tacos, and the fan-favorite chimichanga served with rice and beans. Each plate reflects a careful balance—flavors aren’t overwhelmed by heavy seasoning but rather let the quality of the ingredients speak for themselves. The carne asada fries and street nachos stand out as hearty options that deliver comfort food in generous portions. Vegetarians will find thoughtful choices such as the kale salad and taco salads, showing that the kitchen values diversity and inclusivity.

One cannot overlook the mojito-style margaritas, frozen or on the rocks, which many guests praise as a perfect pairing to the meal. The red salsa, a simple yet essential touch, adds just the right amount of zest to whet your appetite. This balance between vibrant flavors and authenticity resonates with diners looking for a homegrown Mexican experience outside bustling city centers.

The customer experience consistently highlights friendly, attentive staff who are clearly invested in building a thriving family business. While the surroundings lean toward functional rather than fancy, cleanliness and comfort are top priorities here. Las Palmas shines as a local gem for those craving honest food without the pretense. It’s particularly suited for families, couples, and visitors who appreciate straightforward Mexican cooking in a relaxed, straightforward setting.

While some diners note room for deeper flavor complexity in specific dishes, the overall consensus describes a satisfying, authentic meal that respects tradition. Desserts like the chimicheesecake offer a sweet surprise, rounding out the dining experience nicely. With reasonable pricing and generous portions, Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant is a valuable addition to the Panacea dining scene—perfect for anyone passing through who desires a taste of Mexico’s heartland without leaving Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Classic corner Mexican cuisine in Panacea, FL?! You bet!!! Really surprised by how perfect this place is! Good margaritas for a GREAT price (frozen was my preference over the rocks here). We had steak fajitas for two (pictured) and it was an amazing meal for the two of us based on quality and price! Salsa was delicious too. So nice to have this option in such a remote area.

Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant Panacea Food is okay, but not a lot of flavor. I was expecting a sour salsa for the tortilla like any other salsa but it's like watered down. We ordered mostly beef and they all kinda taste the same. Maybe it's supposed to be that way because they're all beef? I don't know. The chicken empanada and kids chicken tacos were the best among others. I'm glad I ordered the #chimicheesecake it kinda lifted the whole experience. Must try! Churros was a little tough on the outside. Friendly staff. Clean and cozy restaurant. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Las Palmas was recommended to me as a good place to get Mexican food. Apparently the folks who run it used to run a food truck. The outside and inside are just ok. I hope that over time they will have success and be able to upgrade the place. Notice that none of my pictures are about the facility. The service is friendly and attentive. I got their signature Street Tacos, which apparently is their signature meal. The food is distinctive and moderately tasty, but not a wow. While I enjoyed dinner and would be happy to eat here again, I don’t have any need to return soon.

Amazing Mexican experience! Food was extremely tasty. Staff were kind and quick. The prices are absolutely reasonable considering the quantity and quality. One of the best deals around here, by far. A lot of vegetarian options to choose from which was really appreciated. The atmosphere is very nice too. Would really recommend it to anyone driving by!

Authentic tasting Mexican food. Not overly seasoned, which is what I prefer! Fajitas were delish and my husband loved his street tacos. Service was excellent and they were pretty busy. Saturday night. You could tell the owners are working hard to make this a special place for themselves. We’d rather eat here than some chain like El Jalisco any day of the week! We will continue to support these hard working folks and are planning a lunch here soon!! Restaurant, along with the restrooms, was very clean and orderly. Appreciate this small business!! We will be back soon.

Food was great. Service was lacking. We were seated, 10-15 minutes later order was taken, we then waited a good 30 minutes for them to come out and say one of the dishes we ordered wasn't available. We ended up getting there 2 hours and 10 minutes. Once food arrived it was really good. The bathroom needed attention - no toilet paper, stalls needed attention

Decent Mexican, nothing to be crazy about. Wasn't busy took a very long time for our waitress to only have 2 tables. Then forgot multiple things. Prices weren't cheap portions were decent mediocre at best.

The margaritas are the reason i wanted to come here while staying at aligator point florida for the week! I got the wakulla fav burrito that was ok but should have stuck with my traditional chimichanga meal. The salsa was just ok as well. It needed some more cilantro in it. We dined outside under the pergula with our dogs and enjoyed our visit!
